About the department
The department provides assistance to patients with injuries to the maxillofacial region (fractures of the facial bones, injuries to the soft tissues of the face), benign neoplasms of the bones and soft tissues of the maxillofacial region, post-traumatic and congenital deformities of the bones and soft tissues of the maxillofacial region, diseases of the salivary glands.
The department performs the following operations:
- reconstructive and restorative plastic surgery on soft tissues of the maxillofacial region;
- reconstructive and restorative plastic surgery on the bones of the facial skeleton;
- orthognathic surgery;
- plastic replacement of soft tissue defects using PECL;
- primary surgical treatment of wounds of soft tissues of the face;
- radical surgery on the maxillary sinus with plastic elimination of the fistula;
- radical surgery on the maxillary sinus with elimination of the defect of the anterior wall of the sinus with an autograft
- elective tooth extraction, complex tooth extraction, removal of impacted teeth;
- transfocal osteosynthesis of the jaws with a mini-plate system;
- removal of benign formations of the maxillofacial region;
- organ-preserving operations on the salivary glands;
- microsurgical removal of formations of the parotid salivary gland;
- subtotal microsurgical removal of parotid salivary gland formations with SMAS defect plastic surgery using a flap;
- primary surgical treatment of the fracture gap, bimaxillary splinting of the jaws, etc.
Requirements for hospitalization
Hospitalization of patients with diseases of the maxillofacial region is carried out by referral from the local outpatient clinic with the seals of the institution and the head of the department after the mandatory and additional research methods specified in the Clinical Protocols have been completed and their results have been provided.
The list may include, if necessary:
- X-ray (OPTG, CBCT, MS CT, MRI, etc.),
- cytological examination (result of cytological examination).
Registration for planned hospitalization is carried out from Tuesday to Friday from 8:30 to 9:30 upon referral from a dental surgeon at the local clinic.
When referring patients with diseases of the maxillofacial region on a planned basis for surgical interventions, the following examinations are carried out:
- Complete blood count, complete urine analysis
- ECG (if there is pathology according to the therapist’s conclusion).
- Biochemical blood test (total protein, bilirubin, urea, transaminases, glucose, electrolytes).
- Coagulogram: (APTT, prothrombin test (prothrombin time, prothrombin ratio, percentage of prothrombin complex factor activity, INR), thrombin time, fibrinogen, D-dimers).
- Chest X-ray (dated no later than 6 months).
- For patients with concomitant pathology - mandatory! consultation with a specialist in the profile of the disease, for women - a gynecologist.
- Extract from a therapist (total cases of congenital heart disease for the year).
- Blood test for RW, HBs Ag, anti HCV (no later than 2 weeks).
- Vaccination status (tetanus, diphtheria).
- Data from examination of the maxillofacial region (X-rays, ultrasound, CT/CBCT cytology/histology, oncologist's report, etc.).
- Oral cavity sanitation.
The test results must be no more than 10 days old!
Attention patients!
When hospitalized, you must have with you:
- Passport (identification card)
- Referral with test results
- Personal hygiene products (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap)
- Shirt.
Please note that in case of planned surgical treatment it is necessary to ensure the absence of jewelry, nail polish and false nails.
Information for patients
Please note that, given the nature of the disease, the state of the syndrome and (or) their course, as well as the individual characteristics of the patient's body, unintended complications are possible during the main operations performed in the department:
- Wound complications (bleeding, hematoma formation, serous fluid accumulations, infiltrates, damage to nearby organs and tissues)
- thromboembolic complications
- development of pain syndrome in the postoperative period, including chronic pain
- infectious complications (wound suppuration, pneumonia, etc.)
- exacerbation of concomitant chronic pathology
During the operation, unforeseen circumstances may arise, in which the course of the operation may be changed by doctors at their discretion.
In some cases, repeated operations may be required, including those associated with possible postoperative complications or with the characteristics of the course of the disease.
