City Consultative Phoniatric Office

About the department

The municipal consulting phoniatric office is located on the 2nd floor of the surgical building (9-storey building), office No. 9.

Phoniatry is a branch of otorhinolaryngology that studies the pathology of voice (dysphonia), methods of treatment and prevention of voice disorders, as well as ways to correct a normal voice in the desired direction. A violation of voice formation can be a manifestation of diseases, anatomical features, as well as a manifestation of psychological factors. The solution to some problems may be closely related to both the problems of speech therapy and the treatment of concomitant otorhinolaryngological diseases.

Phoniatric care is provided to patients with impaired vocal function, namely persons of voice and speech professions (vocalists, artists, students of music. institutions, regents, teachers, and others whose profession is related to voice).

You should contact a phoniatrician if your voice remains hoarse for more than one month for no apparent reason; difficulty singing, wheezing during conversation or prolonged vocal exertion, surgical procedures on the neck and larynx. The phoniatrician also conducts preventive examinations of vocalists, students of music institutions and people involved in singing in order to diagnose the condition of their voice.

Phoniatric examination includes: otorhinolaryngological examination, video laryngoscopy of the larynx, laryngeal stroboscopy. A phoniatrician performs diagnosis, treatment (intra-laryngeal injections into the larynx), rehabilitation and prevention of vocal disorders.

A teacher-defectologist (phonopedist) works with an otorhinolaryngologist.
